Why our latest election story matters: We created a nonpartisan voter guide to help Southwestern Pennsylvanians learn about who will be on their ballots and how to cast their votes. To broaden this public service and acknowledge our region’s interconnectedness, we expanded our coverage area to include all eight counties that make up the Pittsburgh Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Why this work is worth supporting:  “Democracy is only effective with a well informed public.” — PublicSource member Jim P. Keep our stories coming by making a donation now.
For this week's Spot Check, Local Government Reporter Charlie Wolfson analyzes and provides the facts on an ad attacking U.S. Senator Bob Casey. The ad, funded by a conservative super PAC, accuses Casey of being culpable for Philadelphia's "sanctuary city" policy. The ad, however, provides little evidence connecting Casey to the policy

Wolfson also wrote about Allegheny County Executive Sara Innamorato's proposed 2025 budget, which includes a 2.2 mill property tax increase to help close an expected deficit. If approved by County Council, it will be the first millage increase in more than a decade
