Hi John, When we talk about the urgent need to support LGBTQ+ students across the country, this story of a recent grant recipient in Colorado truly highlights the impact we can make together. Thanks to a grant from It Gets Better’s 50 States. 50 Grants. 5000 Voices initiative, a Gender & Sexuality Alliance (GSA) at a high school in Gypsum, Colorado will expand to offer sensitivity training for teachers and host a queer prom for LGBTQ+ students in the community, among other empowering plans. Programs like this change lives — and your support makes them possible. The school’s GSA advisor, Brendan Daly, understands how meaningful this support is. “I mean, look at what’s going on in Florida right now,” he told CBS News. “There are laws in place where, if I were teaching there, I couldn’t even acknowledge that my students exist.” It’s true — in some states, people in positions of power are actively trying to silence and erase LGBTQ+ students. But there is always good news: we have the power to create spaces and opportunities for LGBTQ+ students to shine. Together, we are pushing back against these harmful trends and ensuring every student feels seen, heard, and celebrated.
When you give to It Gets Better, you’re helping LGBTQ+ students know they matter, and you’re giving them the chance to navigate this world with the confidence every young person needs to thrive. Let’s keep building a future where every LGBTQ+ student can grow and flourish. Will you stand with us?
