John,

Trust in public institutions — especially City Hall — is essential for democracy to function and for our city to flourish.

But right now, trust in New York City government is at an all-time low.

With each new subpoena, indictment, and cellphone seized from Mayor Adams’ inner circle, it’s clear that we need better leadership — leadership that is accountable to the people that City Hall is supposed to serve.

So here’s my question for you, John: What does accountability look like to you? Please take a moment to share your thoughts with me.

Look, I’m not sure what’s going to happen next. New Yorkers are learning, in real time, how deep the allegations of corruption in the Adams Administration go.

Like all New Yorkers, Mayor Adams deserves due process, the presumption of innocence, and his day in court.

But what New Yorkers deserve is leadership that is accountable to them — and fully focused on their problems, not his own.

That’s why I’ve proposed a 4-step plan to prevent fraud and corruption in City contracting.

It’s why I’m diligently tracking how well (and how poorly) City agencies are functioning.

And it’s why I’ve called on Mayor Adams to step down, for the good of the City.

I’m doing everything I can to demand accountability from our City government, and I will continue to do so if elected Mayor.

So, can you please spare a moment to tell me what accountability means to you? I have some thoughts, but I’m eager to see what you think.
