Democrats are expanding the map in their fight to turn the Senate blue. Mitch McConnell knows it, and he’s worried. His trusty dark money ally, the Senate Leadership Fund, is pouring tens of millions of dollars behind right-wing Republicans across the country.
But Democrats are still gaining momentum.
Senate Democratic challenger Governor Steve Bullock now leads Republican incumbent Steve Daines by 7 points in Montana. The poll, conducted by Montana State University, is all the more impressive considering Bullock has only been in the race for 2 months.
McConnell has been anxious about Bullock’s chances from the start. He spent $150,000 on ads attacking him -- and that was before he even launched his Senate campaign.
