We all know the stakes in the presidential race are enormous for our
freedoms and democracy, but we cannot lose sight of the urgent need to
also end MAGA control of Congress.
White supremacist Representative Mike Johnson has now been speaker of the
House for nearly a year. And the only things stopping him from inflicting
irreparable damage to our nation have been a tiny Democratic majority in
the Senate and Joe Biden in the White House.
But the presidential race is neck and neck, and Democrats are projected to
lose control of the Senate.^1,2 There's very little standing between us
and a dangerous, dystopian Project 2025 future.
That's why we urgently need to redouble our efforts to help progressive
Democratic candidates in the handful of true "toss-up" races in the House.
Meanwhile, Elon Musk, the world's richest man, is POURING money into the
most competitive House races—to the tune of more than $5 million to help
Republicans win.^3 YES, $5 MILLION.
An eye-popping 20% of the money went into just four MoveOn-endorsed races
that hold the keys to the House.
And reportedly, Musk's PAC is planning to spend an ADDITIONAL $10 million
to help turn out MAGA voters in these House races.^4
We will never match those kind of resources, but we don't need to, because
we have the power of the people on our side. But we can and urgently need
to help four of the progressive Democrats in toss-up races who are
drowning in Musk money and misinformation: Derek Tran in California,
Yadira Caraveo in Colorado, Sue Altman in New Jersey, and Josh Riley in
New York.

Each of these four candidates has been endorsed by MoveOn members in their
districts. Remember, these are among the tightest races in the country.
Here's a snapshot of the candidates:
* Derek Tran, California-45, is an Army veteran, consumer rights
attorney, city commissioner, and small-business owner running for
Congress to represent the people, not corporations.^5
* Representative Dr. Yadira Caraveo, Colorado-08, is a pediatrician who
got big things done as a state legislator, including capping insulin
prices and protecting renters. Now in Congress, she's been fighting
for working families on health care, housing, climate change,
reproductive freedom, and more.^6
* Sue Altman, New Jersey-07, is a teacher, coach, advocate, and leader
in the state on fighting political corruption.^7
* Josh Riley, New York-19, has deep roots in local factories and is
running to strengthen the middle class, protect Medicare and Social
Security, fight climate change, and more.^8
These four progressive Democrats need your help as they fight for every
vote in the final weeks of this election.
