Recently, Republican Senator Tom Cotton -- who’s running for the No. 3 spot in the GOP’s Senate leadership -- said he wants to use the budget to give tax breaks to billionaires and reignite GOP efforts to gut the Affordable Care Act.
This isn’t hypothetical. This is what they actually want to do: tax breaks for the rich, taking away affordable health care options from everybody else.
Needless to say, we need to win the Senate, and to do that, we need to hold on to every seat we have on the ballot this year. That’s why, today, I want to spotlight two important re-election bids: Tim Kaine in Virginia and Angus King in Maine.
If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately and split between Tim Kaine, Angus King, and Brian Schatz:
Here’s a quick overview of what you should know about these two races:
The Washington Post’s endorsement for Tim calls him a “model Senator” and a “political workhorse,” and as someone who’s worked hand-in-hand with Tim, I couldn’t agree more. Tim is facing a self-described MAGA Republican who questioned the 2020 presidential election results and said he was “thrilled” about the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade.
Angus is integral to our work in the Senate, including passing the biggest climate bill in U.S. history, lowering prescription costs for people on Medicare, and ensuring lucrative corporations pay their fair share in taxes. Angus is facing multiple challengers in his bid for re-election, one of whom spread misinformation about the pandemic and elections.
This election is too important for us to take any race for granted -- that’s why I wanted to put these two on your radar before November. Will you split a contribution between Tim, Angus, and me?
Mahalo,
Brian
