Friend — Thousands of LCV supporters like you are speaking out against Arctic drilling, and big banks are listening!
Citigroup and Morgan Stanley have announced they will no longer finance oil and gas exploration, development, and production projects in the Arctic.
They're joining J.P. Morgan Chase, Wells Fargo, and Goldman Sachs — who all see that drilling projects in the Arctic aren't worth the risk to the planet and Indigenous communities.
That means five out of six of the largest banks in the country have signed on, but we can't stop here: Bank of America has still not backed away from drilling. If just one bank decides to finance drilling projects,
we could lose the battle to protect the Arctic Refuge and the ecosystem the Gwich'in people rely on.
With the Trump administration eager to find any way to prop up the struggling oil and gas industry, the threat of restrictions loosening in the Arctic — and drilling projects starting up — is real. We just learned that Republicans are even threatening to mount their own campaign to pressure banks to finance Arctic drilling. That's why we need you with us right now.
There's still time to make a difference — will you be one of the 2,000 people we need to sign today and tell Bank of America to not finance any Arctic drilling?
This fight is a big one for all of us at LCV because we're working in solidarity with the Gwich'in people, whose way of life is at stake. They call the Arctic Refuge the "Sacred Place Where Life Begins," because their culture, traditions, and community are deeply tied to the Coastal Plain within the Refuge. Opening it up to any fossil fuel extraction would be disastrous.
Our campaign is working. Banks are hearing from LCV supporters like you that investing your money into Arctic drilling isn't worth the risk. We could shut down this project for good if enough banks pull out.
But that will only happen if we turn up the pressure on Bank of America — one of the last big banks who could still provide funding right now.

It's hard to believe that Arctic drilling is even an option right now: We should be shifting to a clean and just energy economy, not doubling down on fossil fuels. What we do now will determine whether or not we protect the Arctic Refuge for generations to come — and it's essential we do whatever we can to stop the Trump administration from putting Indigenous communities and our climate at risk.
If one bank is pressured by pro-polluter Republicans into financing Arctic drilling — with our money — it could be disastrous. We can't stand by while any bank disregards Indigenous rights and destroys our climate.

These actions make a real difference: We're seeing that when thousands of us come together, it's possible to force banks like Citigroup and Morgan Stanley to stop funding drilling projects that would cause irreparable harm to native communities and the climate.
I know we can keep up this fight and protect this vital ecosystem and the Gwich'in people's way of life. Thank you for powering this victory and more in the future.
