Prop 3 enshrines marriage equality in the California constitution, regardless of what happens at the federal level.

Friend,

In California, we are working hard to support the safety and dignity of every single Californian. For example, when right-wing conservatives were marginalizing transgender kids, our governor signed a broad set of laws protecting trans and nonbinary kids students.(1)

But, as we saw with the Prop 8 fight only 16 years ago, conservative forces will stop at nothing to eliminate the progress we’ve made together. That’s why this year, it’s essential that California voters pass Prop 3, which enshrines marriage equality in the California constitution regardless of what happens at the federal level.

The Dobbs decision from a few years ago shows just how easily the Supreme Court can rescind a right that has been on the books for decades. And conservative Supreme Court justices have made it clear that they have their eyes set on marriage equality next.(2)

Our friends at Equality California are organizing phone banks all month to reach voters and ensure they know why we must pass Prop 3 by the largest margin possible to send a clear message to folks on the right.

Will you join them and sign up to call voters all over the state so that we can ensure that marriage equality is firmly enshrined in our state constitution?

By passing Prop 3, not only can we ensure protections for the nearly 2 million LGBTQ+ Californians, but we can send a clear message to conservatives from the Supreme Court on down: Marriage equality is here to stay!(3)

Together, we can continue the legacy of progressive policy in our state and ensure that conservatives think twice before attempting to undermine our rights. We know the fight for equality is ongoing. Even as we passed stronger protections for LBTQ+ families and individuals, we know there are opportunities for providing better protections for transgender kids during divorce proceedings and expanding gender-affirming care access for incarcerated people.(4,5)

Continuing to advance these and other essential protections is the only way to ensure equality and protections for all Californians.

Join us in sharing this essential message with voters by signing up to make calls today!

Ballots are out, and with less than four weeks until the election, things are coming down to the wire. Don’t wake up on November 5 and wish you did more to make a difference this election cycle.
