Twenty-five years ago, a heart-wrenching incident in a small Ohio town ignited a powerful movement.
A class at Milo Runkle's local high school took a horrifying turn when the teacher—also a pig farmer—brought dead piglets for dissection. Tragically, one piglet was still alive. A student who worked on the teacher's farm slammed the piglet headfirst onto the floor, a failed attempt to kill her.
The incident sent shockwaves through the community. Yet a judge ruled that the student's action was legal because it was "standard agricultural practice."
Outraged and driven by a deep sense of justice, Milo vowed to fight this systemic cruelty. Determined to make a difference, Milo and a fellow activist started an animal rights group in their small town. They chose a name that captured their unwavering commitment: Mercy For Animals.
What began as a local effort has grown into a global movement, thanks to passionate advocates like you.
