John,

Last night, I had the opportunity to participate in a candidate forum hosted by the League of Women Voters of Sioux City. The forum covered diverse issues such as abortion rights, water quality, and bipartisanship, and I am so grateful for the opportunity to meet with other candidates for the state House and to share my thoughts on Iowa's most pressing issues with voters.

But, this was also the one and only time during this election that my opponent and I will have shared the stage, and it was a telling experience.

He is affable and in no way mean-spirited, but he is also wholly unprepared to represent our community. He gave answer after answer that boiled down to a single quote:

"I wish I had enough knowledge to answer that."

And the handful of times when he had a more cohesive answer, it indelibly hinged on his own far-right ideology.

Our community deserves a representative who will show up prepared and ready to Stand Tall for hard-working Iowans and their families. Not an ideologue who refuses to put in the work and learn about the kitchen-table issues that matter the most to northwestern Iowans.

We are less than four weeks away from election day, and between now and then, I will be knocking every door possible, meeting with constituents, and growing our grassroots movement to elect more Democrats in our community.

But do you know what I'll be doing on November 6th, the day after the election?

Continuing to grow our movement and working hard to represent every part of our community because you deserve a representative who will Stand Tall for you, not some extremist vision.

Stand Tall for All,

J.D.
