John,
Next month, a new 13,000-square-foot recovery housing facility will open in Portland.
The facility will be able to serve 40 Oregonians at a time, providing a supportive place to be after leaving residential treatment for substance abuse, and offering a bridge to an independent, stable life. This kind of support and intentional community is an important part of Oregon’s continuum of care to address our state’s addiction crisis.
This is the exact kind of effort we need to see more of across Oregon.
Recovery housing is one critical resource for helping folks have the time and support they need for a healthier life. And we have more to do!
It’s going to take a concentrated effort from all of us to address the mental health and addiction crisis and make significant improvements to our behavioral health care system.
This has been one of my top priorities since getting elected as your governor — and we’re starting to see real progress.
