When I ran for office in 2022, I promised that we would expand the Comptroller’s office and modernize our tax system to save taxpayers time, effort, and dollars.
I’m happy to report that we’ve been delivering on our promise! First, we launched the Maryland Tax Connect portal for businesses. Then, we announced that we would be taking part in the IRS Direct File program next year. Now, we’re hiring for a Director in the new Office of the Taxpayer Advocate!
This position is another major step forward for the agency! While the IRS and most states have already established an Office of the Taxpayer Advocate, Maryland has not—until now! This newly established office will be a small but mighty one within our agency and will provide a great deal of assistance to taxpayers this upcoming tax season.
The Office of the Comptroller will accept applications for the director position until Friday at the latest. I encourage you to share the job posting with your network and join us as we continue working toward a more modernized and efficient office!
I look forward to sharing more updates about our work with you.
My best,
(She, Her, Hers)
