Hey, John,
Last night, my Republican opponent and I met in Greensboro for the first and only debate of our race, which will air this Sunday on Spectrum News.
My opponent spent most of the debate claiming that there wasn’t a lot of policy difference between us—but frankly, nothing could be further from the truth .
What you’ll see when the debate airs on Sunday are two incredibly different visions for the office of State Treasurer. My opponent would be a Treasurer who spends the next four years hiding in his office and letting the legislature do whatever they want with our state’s money. He spent most of his time telling viewers about how few job responsibilities he thinks the Treasurer has and how he would “stay in his lane”.
Meanwhile, I spent my time sharing the same vision I’ve been sharing with you: that we need a Treasurer who stands by our state employees and retirees, who isn’t afraid to use his platform to rally people to hold their elected officials accountable, and who wants to help our local governments find a smart way to get to “yes” on infrastructure funding instead of just telling them “no”.
In short, if you want a Treasurer who believes he only owes our people the bare minimum in terms of doing his job, vote for Brad Briner. If you want a Treasurer who believes in using the office to actually make a difference in people’s lives and the future of our state, vote for me.
Now we’ve got to make sure people hear about those two competing visions. When they do, we know that ours will win out. But I just got word that my opponent purchased a whopping half a million dollars of TV time to blanket the airwaves all across NC with misinformation about what we stand for. We can’t let him get away with going on the air unopposed—and that’s where I need you.
John, can I count on you to help us go toe-to-toe with my opponent by making a contribution of any amount to my campaign today? We need to make a sizable investment in television and mail in order to really fight back and make sure our message is the one voters across NC hear, and anything you can afford to give today will help us do more. We have just four weeks left to go, and we all have to work together if we're going to bring this race home.
Thanks for standing with me,
Wesley Harris
