I want to ask you once again to join me in supporting Brooke Pinto who is running to represent Ward 2 on the DC Council in the primary election on June 2nd and the special election on June 16th. I am proud to have endorsed Brooke and am excited to announce that Brooke was just endorsed last week by the Washington Post. Yesterday, Brooke was also endorsed by U.S. Congressman Joe Kennedy (D-MA4) and DC Women in Politics. Partnerships like these will be crucial in DC’s effort to secure our fair share of federal funding to recover from COVID-19.
I first met Brooke when she joined the Office of the Attorney General as a tax attorney where she represented the DC Office of Tax and Revenue. I was immediately impressed with her work ethic and tenacity and ended up handpicking her to work for me as the Assistant Attorney General for Policy and Legislative Affairs. There, she helped craft crucial legislation on topics such as hate crimes, small business protection, and criminal justice reform. When she came to me to express her interest in running for the Ward 2 Council seat, I was thrilled. Brooke will be an excellent source of reason, energy, and integrity to the Council -- the representation that Ward 2 needs, especially during this time of crisis.
Now more than ever, the work of our local leaders is crucially important, especially when there is a dearth of leadership at the national level. The candidates we elect on June 2nd and June 16th will determine our city’s path forward and the journey towards recovery. So today I am asking you once again to join me in supporting Brooke Pinto.
If you are able, please donate to Brooke’s campaign here or mail a check to Brooke Pinto for Ward 2, 1219 Q Street, N.W., Washington, DC, 20009. You can read Brooke’s comprehensive COVID-19 relief and recovery plan and her entire platform on her website here.
