April, 2020, Florida County Republican Registrations Report and Elections Analysis
©Stephen R. Meyer, Vero Beach, Florida, May, 2020
Issued 05/05/20

  • There were roughly 24 weeks from the end of April to the early voting period of the 2020 election.
  • Miami-Dade County Supervisor of Elections (SOE) did not post April numbers by the end of the business day on May 5, 2020 so Miami-Dade County March numbers were carried over to April's report. The Miami-Dade County SOE website may be checked at a future date for those interested in Miami-Dade County's April numbers.
  • In April, Republican registrations in Florida, relative to Democrat registrations, improved by 5,365 registrations. This leaves the Democrats with a 288,787 relative registration advantage (See attached chart and tables for the details of this and other related items).
  • Two tables were produced for this month's report. The second sets of columns in both tables were inverted so it would be easier to compare the top performing Republican Counties to the top performing Democrat Counties.

Democrats and their leftist allies wisely utilize non-campaign election strategies. Florida's 2018 Amendment 4 (restoring qualifying felons' right to vote) was one such effort whose passage is presumed to be a factor in the poor relative Republican registration numbers Republicans have been experiencing as of late.

A common reason stated by Republicans and their allies for not adopting non-campaign election strategies is that campaign strategies are much more impactful than are non-campaign election strategies. This may be true in the short-term, but even in the short-term every gain made by implementing non-campaign strategies helps. From the relative registration gains the Democrats have been making since mid-2018, the Democrats' gains from adopting both campaign and non-campaign efforts are outpacing the Republican gains brought about by the Republican limiting their efforts to traditional campaign strategies.

In the 1988 Presidential election, only Alaska, Idaho, New Hampshire, South Carolina, Utah and Wyoming had a larger Republican margin of victory than Florida's 22.36% margin. In the last presidential election, 26 states had Republican margins that exceeded Florida's 1.19% Republican margin. The extent of the relative loss of the Republican share of the vote in Florida in the last three decades has little to do with traditional campaign efforts, great governance by Democrats, or from the Democrats having great candidates. This leaves only a lack of Republican non-campaign efforts as the source of the loss.

Health, or wellness, may also be a non-campaign strategy and COVID-19 will likely have an impact on the 2020 election. The fear with COVID-19 is not in getting sick, but in having the sickness progress to death. It would be in The President's (and The Governor's) best interests to minimize deaths to alleviate this fear.

There are two errors that can be made in the drug/biologics approval process; 1) delaying the approval of a helpful drug/biologic and 2) approving a drug/biologic which causes harm. Bureaucracies fear the approving of a drug/biologic which will cause harm. Those who are terminal, and their loved ones, fear delayed approvals of helpful drugs/biologics. President Trump has done a great job of recognizing the evils of the deep state/fake news. The hope is The President has figured out that there exists a medical arm of the deep state/fake news.

The amount of COVID-19 related information is overwhelming and becoming ever more so. Most of what is written here is with the information that was available through Friday, May 1. Dr. Yo (an Anesthesiologist) and Dr. Mike Hansen (a Pulmonologist) are posting updated information on some of the various social media websites. To add credence to my reference to there being a medical arm of the deep state/fake news, Dr. Yo stated, in a question and answer forum, that the FDA was placing unnecessary hurdles in front of at least one of the companies about to be mentioned.

There were at least five companies that have had success in treating severe COVID-19 cases and the names of the companies are being provided so the reader may do their own research. The five are California based Capricor Therapeutics Inc., CytoDyn, Inc., and RESTEM (in collaboration with Miami's Baptist Health), Australia based Mesoblast Limited, and Israel based Pluristem Therapeutics.

In addition to these five, and there may well be others as things are extremely fluid, Ohio based Athersys, Inc. was working on Adult Respiratory Distress Syndrome ((ARDS), a common complication of COVID-19) prior to the COVID-19 situation, and has added COVID-19 to its efforts as it partners with University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center.

At least one of the previously mentioned companies has been trying to get FDA approval for their drugs/biologics for a decade. Had some of these products been previously approved for other indications, when the COVID-19 pandemic hit, there would have been a treatment for what would be considered a non-therapeutic indication available to those with COVID-19, potentially saving tens of thousands of American lives. Hopefully The President is ending the reign of the medical deep state/fake news, but if not, it should be one of his highest-priority efforts. Voters in 2020 will not understand why those with severe COVID-19 were denied access to life-saving drugs/biologics.

Until lifesaving drugs/biologics are readily available, those who are high risk should make themselves aware of those hospitals where drug/biologic trials involving these, or similar companies, are taking place. Those in high-risk categories may wish to isolate themselves until drugs/biologics which will aid in curing the severe cases of COVID-19 are readily available.

In full disclosure, I have no health related qualifications, at the time of this writing myself and my immediate family owns stock in four of the six companies mentioned, and neither I, nor anyone in my immediate family, is receiving compensation from these companies.
