John, we’re headed into the final few weeks before Election Day, but there’s still so much left to do to protect voters.
My job is to manage Common Cause’s Election Protection volunteer program – and our team is working around the clock to defend EVERY voter’s rights.
Realistically, we knew that this first presidential election since January 6th would present new, unprecedented threats.
And unfortunately, the worst has yet to come. In Wisconsin, Georgia, and Texas we’ve already seen anti-voter suppression tactics ramp up and we expect this is just the beginning.
From the first primary, Common Cause has sprung into action, and I’m simply amazed at what we’ve been able to accomplish so far.
We’ve recruited a staggering number of volunteers with hundreds more signing up through protectthevote.net every single day.
Those volunteers (and you may be one of them!) have helped thousands of voters cast their votes during the primaries and have exposed, flagged, and gotten hundreds of pieces of online disinformation removed.
With early voting underway, and Election Day just a few weeks out, we’re prepared to mobilize at polling places for whatever challenges arise.
We’ve made historic investments in our Election Protection work because we know how important it is for us to meet this moment. We’ve been planning for this election for years and now that we’re 26 days away, I’m so glad we decided to lean into this vital work.
But John, I’m taking the time to write you because unfortunately, maintaining our current level of investment isn’t going to be sufficient this year.
Common Cause has received way more volunteer interest than we expected – and I need your help to make the most of it. We’re inspired that so many ordinary Americans are willing to commit their time and resources to defend our democracy.
We have just a few weeks left to train, equip, and place far more volunteers than even our highest estimates anticipated. It’ll be expensive and time-consuming -- but absolutely necessary.
It costs us $50 to fully prepare one new volunteer for the field -- and I’m asking you today if you’ll sponsor one or more volunteers with a tax-deductible contribution. Can you please pitch in what you can?
If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:
Whether you can afford to sponsor one volunteer, multiple volunteers -- or you can’t give $50, but can pitch in a few dollars to team up with a fellow supporter -- please know your donation will make an immediate, direct impact on thousands of voters.
I hope you can pitch in what you can today. Thank you for your support, and for all you are doing for our democracy.
