Message From Ted
Dear VCC Community,
Transformative Thoughts
I was introduced to the work of Meredith Miller last week from Karen, one of VCC’s Chapter leaders. In her VIDEO, ([link removed]) Miller shares some profound ideas about the time we are in and how we might move through this period wiser and transformed. She declares that there is a “shattering of our world view. The old world has ended. The new world is not yet established. Nothing is normal. We are at a turning point in human history right now.”
Miller also shares the perspective that what is happening is not being done “to us” but rather “for us”. That a huge opportunity where humanity is being invited to engage in deep questioning about life’s meaning and purpose; and about freedom and responsibility.
Dr. Julie Ponesse shares a similar view. She says this time is an opportunity to clarify our values and strengthen our integrity. In her latest book, Our Last Innocent Moment she states: “This is a dark time for humanity. But darkness always creates the greatest opportunities for growth and self-awareness, and for us to intentionally remake ourselves for the better. The moment is upon us. We can’t reclaim the innocence we lost in 2020, but we can use our experiences to remake a more innocent world for ourselves and for our children. We can, I dare say, create something even greater.”
We have a choice. We can, as Miller states, “give up, falling into despair and defense, OR we can lean into the existential calling of a lifetime.”
I choose to believe that we are meant for this time. And that our ability to see, hear and speak with truth with integrity is no accident. We are here on purpose and have a destiny. Yes, there will be loss. Many of our relationships will end. The world as we know it is crumbling under the weight of a lack of morality and integrity.
I suggest we celebrate these endings and get on with creating anew. We are in the process of creating the new collective human path.
Thank you for your wisdom, courage and integrity during this important time.

A New Legal Framework for Health Freedom

The Charter of Health Freedom is proposed legislation that gives natural health products and traditional medicines their own Act. Creating This Human Experience
Excerpt from an Essay by Ted Kuntz
The state of the human condition at this time demands that we lift our attention from our individual and family centric perspective and expand our view to include a larger sphere.
When we broaden our perspective to a larger field of endeavor it is easy to become intimidated with the largeness of a situation and perceive ourselves as small and insignificant. It is also common to become overwhelmed with the severity of a situation and move into a state of despair. Neither condition will serve us. More than ever our voices, efforts and perspectives are needed to claim and create the kind of human conditions we endeavor to achieve.
My invitation to you is to select one area of focus - environmental stewardship, social justice, poverty reduction, harm reduction, inclusion, civil rights, etc. and align yourself with like-minded souls. More than ever we need thoughtful and dedicated people consciously creating the human experience where everyone can thrive.
In 1940 Charlie Chaplin directed a movie entitled The Great Dictator. Chaplin’s movie was an effort to unite men in a common cause for the betterment of all humanity. His words were not heeded then. Maybe we will heed them now.
“We all want to help one another. Human beings are like that. We want to live by each other’s happiness, not by each other’s misery. We don’t want to hate and despise one another. In this world there is room for everyone. And the good earth is rich and can provide for everyone. The way of life can be free and beautiful, but we have lost the way.
Greed has poisoned men’s souls; has barricaded the world with hate; has goose-stepped us into misery and bloodshed. We have developed speed, but we have shut ourselves in. Machinery that gives abundance has left us in want. Our knowledge has made us cynical; our cleverness, hard and unkind.
We think too much and feel too little. More than machinery, we need humanity. More than cleverness, we need kindness and gentleness. Without these qualities, life will be violent and all will be lost.
Let us all unite. Let us fight for a new world, a decent world that will give men a chance to work, that will give youth a future and old age a security. By the promise of these things, brutes have risen to power. But they lie! They do not fulfill their promise.
Now let us fight to fulfill that promise! Let us fight to free the world! To do away with national barriers! To do away with greed, with hate and intolerance!
Let us fight for a world of reason, a world where science and progress will lead to all men’s happiness.”

Creating This Human Experience
Excerpt from an Essay by Ted Kuntz
The state of the human condition at this time demands that we lift our attention from our individual and family centric perspective and expand our view to include a larger sphere.
When we broaden our perspective to a larger field of endeavor it is easy to become intimidated with the largeness of a situation and perceive ourselves as small and insignificant. It is also common to become overwhelmed with the severity of a situation and move into a state of despair. Neither condition will serve us. More than ever our voices, efforts and perspectives are needed to claim and create the kind of human conditions we endeavor to achieve.
My invitation to you is to select one area of focus - environmental stewardship, social justice, poverty reduction, harm reduction, inclusion, civil rights, etc. and align yourself with like-minded souls. More than ever we need thoughtful and dedicated people consciously creating the human experience where everyone can thrive.
In 1940 Charlie Chaplin directed a movie entitled The Great Dictator. Chaplin’s movie was an effort to unite men in a common cause for the betterment of all humanity. His words were not heeded then. Maybe we will heed them now.
“We all want to help one another. Human beings are like that. We want to live by each other’s happiness, not by each other’s misery. We don’t want to hate and despise one another. In this world there is room for everyone. And the good earth is rich and can provide for everyone. The way of life can be free and beautiful, but we have lost the way.
Greed has poisoned men’s souls; has barricaded the world with hate; has goose-stepped us into misery and bloodshed. We have developed speed, but we have shut ourselves in. Machinery that gives abundance has left us in want. Our knowledge has made us cynical; our cleverness, hard and unkind.
We think too much and feel too little. More than machinery, we need humanity. More than cleverness, we need kindness and gentleness. Without these qualities, life will be violent and all will be lost.
Let us all unite. Let us fight for a new world, a decent world that will give men a chance to work, that will give youth a future and old age a security. By the promise of these things, brutes have risen to power. But they lie! They do not fulfill their promise.
Now let us fight to fulfill that promise! Let us fight to free the world! To do away with national barriers! To do away with greed, with hate and intolerance!
Let us fight for a world of reason, a world where science and progress will lead to all men’s happiness.”

Dr. Robert Alexander Gunn, a professor at New York Medical College, testified in a case where parents were challenging the state of New York's requirement for smallpox vaccinations to attend school.
