Support ProPublica before our spring fundraiser ends!
Dear Reader,
ProPublica is publishing more, and at a faster clip, than ever to keep up with the COVID-19 crisis, but our mission holds steady: reporting that shines a light on injustice to spur change. At a time like this, we know our fact-based, deep-dive, nonpartisan approach to investigative journalism is more urgent than ever.
Over the past two months, we’ve been working to uncover information on every angle of this global crisis. We’ve reported out crucial information that can help navigate the health and economic emergencies. That includes such things as what we all need to know about asymptomatic carriers if we’re going to beat this virus. We’ve gathered the advice of experts from around the world to give us the bigger picture on what American governors should know before safely reopening their states. We’ve exposed questionable
behavior by our leaders, including when a U.S. Senator dumped $1.7 million of his own stock just before the economic meltdown, while at the same time reassuring constituents that everything was fine. And we’ve provided a platform for stories from frontline workers, like this pulmonary specialist’s experience dealing with the virus (our most-read article ever), and this nurse who was suspended after raising money to purchase PPE.
Our coverage of this pandemic costs money, and as a nonprofit, ProPublica relies on readers like you to help power our newsroom. Tonight ends our three-day campaign to raise money to help fund this coverage, and I’m asking you to join us now. If you’re able, please donate any amount before midnight, and help ProPublica keep producing stories that make a difference.
Thanks so much,
Jill Shepherd
