Hi,

As we kick off Campus Sustainability Month this October, I am excited to reflect on the legacy of Earth Day and my time helping champion a better future for all as our College Campus Coordinator.

The first Earth Day was organized by Denis Hayes, a passionate young activist who mobilized young people and college students to commemorate our planet. His vision sparked a decades-long global movement, reminding us that the future belongs to the youth. Today, the Campus Coalition here at EARTHDAY‍.ORG strives to carry forward this vital work, in engaging young people to advocate for environmental protection.

Now, I need your help to finish the mission young leaders sought to accomplish over 50 years ago.  <[link removed]>

Last year, as EARTHDAY‍.ORG relaunched our Campus Coalition for the first time since the pandemic, we organized events on 40 college campuses, mobilizing students, faculty, and staff to urge the U.S. government to advocate for limitations on plastic production in the Global Plastics Treaty. I can honestly say that it was undoubtedly exhaustive — but also thrilling. Good things are ahead!

As we look forward to Earth Day 2025, the Campus Coalition’s goal is to engage students, faculty, and staff at 1,000 campuses across the world. We need your support to do this essential work. Your contribution will help us expand our outreach, empower more students, and amplify the student voice in the fight for a sustainable future.

By donating today, you can help me and EARTHDAY‍.ORG realize these visions and support the initiatives we work on year-round. <[link removed]>

Together, we can build on the legacy of Earth Day and ensure that our planet thrives for generations to come.

It's your turn now.

For action,

Lee Franklin
