John,
It’s hard to believe looking at us now, but bringing our dog Scout into the family took some convincing.
When I ran for governor of Minnesota in 2018, I promised my son that if we won we would finally welcome a puppy into our home. I didn’t think much of it at the time, but as any parent knows, kids remember everything.
When my race was called, I knew that I had to make good on my promise.
So a few weeks later, we rescued Scout from a litter in Oklahoma. We had the space in our home and our hearts, and it’s not an exaggeration to say that he filled that vacancy perfectly.
The truth is that Scout rescued us just as much as we rescued him. Having him in my life has made me a better person and leader. He’s loyal, he gives unconditional love, and he reminds me of the empathy we have the power to show each other every single day.
Looking back, keeping my word to my family was one of the most important things I’ve ever done. I will always follow through on my promises, no matter how big or small. That’s why I mean it when I say that I’m prepared to keep my promises if Kamala and I are elected.
The only way we can win this fight is if folks like you pitch in a few bucks to our campaign for the first time today. With just 28 days left before Election Day, will you give what you can?

I’ll leave you with one of the greatest life lessons Scout has taught me. The walks we go on are not mine. They’re his and he just lets me come along for the ride.
That’s a lot like our campaign, John. It’s not about me and Kamala. It’s about you. It’s about your neighbor. It’s about the American people.
Scout changed my life. Now it’s up to us to change the course of our country and our democracy for the better.
Thanks for all you do,
Tim (& Scout!)
