John,
Since this time last year, Justice Democrats and our elected leaders in Congress have led the call for an immediate, permanent ceasefire, the return of Israeli and Palestinian hostages, and the de-escalation of violence to prevent an all-out regional war in the Middle East.
Unfortunately, the majority of U.S. officials — who take thousands or even millions of dollars in campaign contributions from anti-Palestinian lobby group AIPAC — have not joined this call for peace. Meanwhile, the White House has enabled far-right Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to not only carry out genocide against Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank, but also to bomb and invade Lebanon.
In one year, the Israeli military has killed at least 41,000 Palestinians — that’s 1 out of every 55 people in Gaza, with 69% of victims being women and children. In Lebanon, the death toll rises daily, with more than 1,300 people killed so far in the past month. As long as our country continues to send bombs and weapons to Israel, this violence will not end.
Currently, only seventeen leaders in Congress have demanded the U.S. halt arms transfers to Israel, and ten out of the twelve House members are Justice Democrats incumbents.
The sooner our leaders stop enabling Israel’s far-right government, the more lives we can save and the sooner we can achieve peace.
In solidarity,
Justice Democrats
