Fellow Kansan,

Thank you for subscribing to my newsletter! This week, I am spending time with Kansans in Riley, Saline, Kiowa, and Kearny counties. Follow me on social media to see more of my work across the Big First this week.

I do not serve in Congress to be a caretaker in the slow demise of America – I serve to fight and work to make it stronger. That's what I am doing while believing our brightest days are yet to come.

Yours in service,

Addressing the Nation: A Time for Choosing

When Kansans think of the future they want they for their children, they want a nation with a strong economy, secure borders, and a land of opportunity. I spoke on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives about the consequences that the November election will have on that future.

In the coming weeks, Americans will head to the polls, and we'll have a choice before us. We can vote for a candidate that has told us what she wants to do to address her failing policies, or we can vote for a candidate who has shown us what his policies can do to strengthen the nation. I know what choice I will make.

Hosting the 2024 Aviation Summit

Yesterday, I gathered aviation and aerospace leaders, industry stakeholders, and local, state, and federal leaders at K-State Salina to discuss the future of aviation in the state of Kansas. After agriculture, aviation has the number two impact on Kansas' economy. We discussed prioritizing robust oversight of the executive branch to make sure the recent FFA reauthorization is properly implemented, the need for strong workforce development programs that provide a robust pipeline of talent, and the importance of general aviation and infrastructure to rural communities like those in the Big First District.

The success of aviation and manufacturing did not come to our state overnight. It came together over decades of teamwork, talent development, training, buy-in, and innovation. I look forward to continuing these partnerships to ensure Kansas remains the nation's leader in aviation for the century to come.

Livestock Marketing Association

The Big First District is the number one beef producing congressional district in the country. During my meeting with the Livestock Marketing Association, we discussed the importance of fighting regulations that handcuff our beef producers like the Biden-Harris Administration's Packers and Stockyards rule that harms competition and hinders family ranchers who are trying their best to make an honest living. We also discussed the need for fewer unfunded, mandated rules from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Receiving NSSF Recognition

I was recently recognized as a member of the Congressional Dean's List for NSSF: the Firearm Industry Trade Association. I am proud to support our Second Amendment rights. That's why I sponsor legislation like the RIFLE Act which would protect Federal Firearm, Licensees from being forced our of business by overreaching directives from the Biden-Harris Administration.

I will never stop fighting to defend and protect the right to bear arms for law-abiding Americans. Thank you, NSSF for recognizing me as a defender of the Second Amendment.

Fighting for a Nation That's Safe

Elected officials have the duty to protect the American people. Under the Biden-Harris Administration's failed leadership, our national security has been weakened. From our wide-open southern borders to proposed policies that would endanger family farms across Kansas, the Biden-Harris Administration has taken America backwards. As part of my Commitment to the Big First, I am fighting to:

  • End the humanitarian and fentanyl crisis at our southern border
  • Support our military troops and law enforcement officers
  • Stand strong as the world leaders in democracy and freedom

House Republicans are working to get America back on track. I will continue supporting efforts to ensure the safety of all Americans and will keep holding our federal government accountable.

Spring 2025 Internship Applications are Open

I am accepting internship applications for Spring 2025. My first job on Capitol Hill was interning for a Kansas representative, and I'm honored to extend that same opportunity to other young people. Interns are a vital part of a congressional office, and the program is a rewarding experience for students interested in learning more about our government and serving Kansans in the Big First District.

If you, or a student you know, are interested in applying for an internship in my Washington, D.C., Manhattan, or Dodge City offices, please click the link below to learn more and apply.

The last day to submit all required application materials is Friday, October 25, 2024, at 11:59 PM CDT.
