PAWS Chicago volunteers are loading our van today with desperately needed supplies as they prepare for a 29-hour journey to rescue dogs and puppies from an animal shelter in hurricane-ravaged Tennessee.
Even as Hurricane Milton, a category 5 storm, threatens to sweep across Florida's Gulf Coast tonight before ripping east across the state, people and pets in Florida, Georgia, the Carolinas, and Tennessee already face a months-long nightmare recovering from last week's Hurricane Helene.
Supplies are scarce and our rescue contacts are relaying shocking stories about the threats animals are facing in the impacted areas.

Offering help and hope during emergencies is a big part of our No Kill mission. We can say yes when called upon because our PAWS Chicago community always rises to the occasion.
You've been so generous during past rescue efforts, we're hoping you can help again.
If you can, please consider bringing donated items to our Medical Center today until 6 pm for our trip to Tennessee.
Our shelter partner is most in need of cleaning supplies like paper towels, trash bags, disinfectant, hand sanitizer, and gloves.
You can follow our progress and donate to this lifesaving mission below.
