Pandemic sends MontCo workers back to the table
The unexpected revenue shortfall due to the COVID-19 pandemic is sending Montgomery County workers back to the bargaining table. “We remain optimistic that we can find an agreement that recognizes the new economic reality but also prioritizes employees who continue to deliver vital services on the frontlines,” said UFCW 1994 MCGEO president Gino Renne. However, he warned Local 1994 members, “If the Council decides that scoring political points is more important than doing right by employees then we need to be prepared to fight.” In addition to Local 1994, the unions for police and fire fighters will participate in the negotiations.

Maryland & Washington D.C. vote by mail info posted
Complete details on voting by mail in both Maryland and the District of Columbia are now posted on the Metro Council’s website. “The Metropolitan Washington Council is encouraging all D.C. voters to request a mail-in ballot so that you can vote at home and avoid in-person voting,” says MWC Political Director David Stephen. In Maryland, the primary has been moved to June 2, and will be conducted primarily by mail, but “Unlike D.C., all registered and eligible voters will be mailed a ballot for this election.”
