Sea Urchins

Attention all Commercial Urchin Harvesters:

Today is the first day of the 2024-2025 Sea Urchin season. We are sharing updated instructions for harvesters that intend to use the "Flexible harvest option" to carry over product until a sale transaction occurs. This is a new option available for the 2024-2025 season.

This notice applies ONLY to flexible harvest reporting. Traditional harvest reporting remains the same.

Urchin harvesters operating under the flexible harvest provision MUST report their daily trip electronically. Rather than using "NO SALE" in your report, please use "CARRED" and also report the intended dealer. This will complete the trip report. If the dealer changes, the trip report will require an edit. Reminder: a harvester using the flexible harvest provision MUST ALSO TAG TOTES with date of harvest and license number prior to storage.

Harvesters may use either LEEDS or VESL to complete electronic reporting. If you are unfamiliar with using these options for reporting, there are detailed instructions on our website, click either: LEEDS or VESL. Landings Program staff are available to help set up favorite settings. Landings Program assistance: 207-633-9414.

If you have any questions, I can be reached via email at [email protected] or by phone at 207-458-9234. Also, questions may be directed to your local Marine Patrol Officer
