  • You can register to vote at the polling places on November 5, but there could be a long line.

Democratic Candidates for Jackson Town Council

Teton Dems are proud to support two outstanding candidates for Jackson Town Council: Perri Stern (left) and Kevin Regan (right). A summary of each candidate's positions follows.

Kevin Regan has twenty years of experience as an environmental and intellectual-property attorney with organizations like Protect Our Water Jackson Hole, Earthjustice, and the U.S.Department of Justice. His priorities are:
  • Protecting clean water and the environment: Our entire community needs water that issafe for drinking, recreation, and ecosystem health. We can achieve greater balance byupdating our Land Development Regulations and coordinating with the county on long-term wastewater treatment solutions.
  • Creating transportation solutions: Let’s explore common sense ways to improve our transportation system, such as permanent and workable service to the airport.
  • Balancing economic and housing solutions: We need more truly affordable housing forour local workforce and families, which begins with seeing the 90 Virginian LaneDevelopment to the finish line with a range of housing options for different community needs.

Perri Stern  has been a community organizer for six years and has successfully mobilized a broad cross-section of residents to stay involved around important neighborhood, town and county issues over time. Her priorities are:
  • Addressing the unchecked growth that is having a significant impact on all aspects of our lives. It seems like every week we learn of yet another historic structure, block, or landscape that is slated for demolition or “re-development”. The impact of this unchecked growth has put an untenable stress and strain on our community.
  • Reversing the increasing gap between our revenue and expenses. We must get our financial house in order. We cannot continue to dip into our town’s reserves as if they were a bottomless candy jar. I am not a fan of raising property taxes, and believe we need to look seriously at ways to increase revenue and reduce duplication and expenses. At the same time, we must ensure that we are able to fund the quality and quantity of services that our community needs and expects.
  • Affordable living is a long-standing issue for our community. It is also directly related to unchecked growth. We need to increase our inventory of affordable options (of all types) for individuals and families (of all sorts) who are the backbone of our community, who want to make this place their home for the long term, and without whom our town would cease to function. We also need to show a much stronger commitment to reusing, repurposing and enhancing existing structures.

State Races Matter

Here in Teton County, we have no contested statewide races.  However, the enormous gains made by the extremist Freedom Caucus allied candidates in the primary, must not be repeated in the general.  These candidates are our best chance to stem the tide.  Please give what you can - every donation helps!
