My name is Emilia Sykes and I’m proud to be a SEEC Member running for re-election to Congress in Ohio’s 13th district, one of the most competitive races in the country and the only toss-up House race in Ohio.
I believe that access to clean air, clean water, and a clean environment is a basic human right - and that we can fight for those rights while also creating good-paying jobs. That’s why I’ve supported climate-friendly policies that strengthen our economy, allow our national parks to thrive, and support our native wildlife.
You may recall the devastating accident that happened in Northeast Ohio last year where a train carrying hazardous materials derailed and caused several railcars to burn for multiple days, releasing toxic chemicals like hydrogen chloride into the air.
We cannot allow accidents like this to poison our communities, so I used my position on the Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee on Water Resources and Environment to introduce a bill called the RAIL Act that would implement commonsense rail safety measures to keep our communities safe from disasters like the one that happened in East Palestine, Ohio.
Thanks to your help in 2022, SEEC PAC was able to re-elect over 95% of our pro-environment members to the U.S. House of Representatives — defying the odds on a night where Democrats lost seats. Now we are counting on you to help our SEEC members pass climate, clean energy and environmental justice policies in the 118th Congress while we continue fighting for a sustainable future. But if you'd like to receive fewer emails, we understand. You can click here to only get our most important messages, or you can unsubscribe.
