John,
Just about one week remains until Robert Roberson is scheduled to be executed by the state of Texas — and not only does evidence prove Robert’s innocence, but it proves that no crime ever occurred.
On Oct. 7, Robert's attorneys filed an emergency motion asking the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals to stay his upcoming election. Now, we must use these final weeks to make our voices heard and urge Texas Gov. Greg Abbott to intervene and grant Robert clemency. With so much on the line, we need every Texan to call Gov. Greg Abbott’s office at 361-264-9653 and urge him to save Robert’s life.
More than 30 scientists and doctors, a bipartisan majority of Texas legislators, celebrity advocates like John Grisham, and even the former lead detective, Brian Wharton, have come out in support of Robert’s clemency petition, urging Gov. Abbott to step in and prevent this irreversible mistake from taking place.
“I will forever be haunted by the role I played in helping the State put this innocent man on death row.”
— Brian Wharton, in a letter to the board
Robert’s fate remains at the mercy of Gov. Abbott and the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles. The best chance we have of getting them to intervene is by joining this chorus of supporters and making it clear that Robert’s execution must be stopped.
Will you call Gov. Abbott at 361-264-9653 to join the experts and help stop this horrible injustice?
Thank you,
Innocence Project
