Team,

Yesterday, reproductive rights took a devastating hit in Georgia. The Georgia Supreme Court reinstated a law that bans abortion at six-weeks—before most people even know they're pregnant.

This ban has already cost the lives of at least two women—both mothers—whose deaths shortly after the ban took effect in 2022 were deemed "preventable" by Georgia's Maternal Mortality Review Committee. And now, this new ruling places even more lives in jeopardy. Despite knowing this, Attorney General Carr pushed to reinstate this ban, endangering countless Georgians’ health and autonomy.

But we won’t give up on fighting this extreme ban. With your support, we’re fighting for the right of every Georgian to make decisions about their bodies, health, and futures.

We will continue to share updates in the fight. Thanks for being with us - Alice

Subject:[WIN] Georgia abortion ban struck down!

Center for Reproductive Rights Donate

Dear Team,

Your support is making an impact. Just yesterday, a Georgia state court struck down the state's six-week abortion ban! This is a massive win for our clients, the people they serve, and for reproductive rights. And it's all made possible by YOU.

The court ruled that the ban was unconstitutional, finding that the state constitution prohibits government interference with abortion decisions before viability. This ruling recognizes that the Georgia constitution protects the right to abortion and expands access across the region.

KEEP THE MOMENTUM GOING

Judge Robert McBurney didn't just strike down the law, but criticized it for forcing women to be "human incubators." He stated, "Women are not some piece of collectively owned community property the disposition of which is decided by majority vote."

This victory comes less than three weeks after a North Dakota judge struck down that state's abortion ban in a separate case The Center is litigating. In fact, the Georgia decision cites our North Dakota win.

We're determined to sustain this momentum to strike down other abortion bans and build state constitutional protections nationwide.

This critical win, led by the Center for Reproductive Rights alongside our partners, means that clinicians can once again provide vital care without fear of criminalization. Your support allows the Center to fight for abortion rights in court—and the rulings in Georgia and North Dakota prove that when we fight, we can win!

Even this fight continues: as I write, Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr has already filed an appeal to the state Supreme Court to reinstate the six-week ban—but we plan to fight back to preserve this win and ensure every Georgian can access the care they need.
