October 8, 2024: Weekly Newsletter | Under the Biden-Harris administration, billions of taxpayer dollars are being funneled into housing, feeding, and providing healthcare for those crossing our borders illegally. While this is happening, American communities like those in Western North Carolina and the South East are left vulnerable after Hurricane Helene, struggling with inadequate resources and support from the federal government. It’s unacceptable that the safety and well-being of U.S. citizens are being sidelined by open border policies. Americans deserve leadership that puts them first. It's time to demand real solutions and restore the focus on protecting our communities, not those who break our laws. My office is working on ways that we force FEMA to change its priorities and reallocate its resources toward Americans who are suffering – where they should be to begin with. | Demanding Accountability for Missing Migrant Children | The Biden-Harris administration’s open border policies are creating a humanitarian crisis that is spiraling out of control. More than 300,000 migrant children have gone missing, with ICE losing track of them under this administration's watch. These include 291,000 children who were never issued Notices to Appear (in court) and 32,000 more who missed their court dates, with ICE now having no idea about their whereabouts. It is tragically ironic that we constantly hear about “Trump’s family separation” from the left, when in reality, this is the real family separation – and it’s happening under Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. Criminal cartels are exploiting these vulnerable children, turning our open border into a profitable operation for human trafficking. I have written to ICE demanding answers and accountability. We must know what went wrong and how we will recover these missing children. It’s time to put an end to these dangerous policies, secure our borders, and protect the lives of both American citizens and these vulnerable children. In response, Israel has every right to defend itself against terrorism, and I firmly stand with our ally in its ongoing fight for peace and security. This past week, we witnessed yet another frightening assault as Iran launched a ballistic missile attack on Israel, highlighting the constant danger they face - even as the Jewish community was celebrating the new year. As we mark the anniversary of the October 7th attack, our prayers are with the families affected and those defending Israel’s right to exist. Keep praying for peace, for Israel’s strength, and for the safety of its citizens. | Honoring Texas’ Brave First Responders | I want to take a moment to honor the brave men and women who serve as first responders across our state. Recently, our local heroes in Corpus Christi saved two men from drowning while searching for another. These first responders work tirelessly, putting their own lives at risk to protect our communities. I am deeply grateful for their unwavering commitment and courage. God bless these heroes and their families as they continue to keep Texans safe. | Rep.
