The National Hurricane Center reports that Milton rapidly intensified over the Gulf of Mexico. It will be a major hurricane capable of producing life-threatening storm surge and damaging winds when it approaches the west coast of Florida on Wednesday.
Storm Surge and Hurricane Warnings are now in effect for portions of the Florida coast and residents should follow any advice given by local officials and evacuate if told to do so.
