SEPTEMBER 2024
|
Dear Friend,
Throughout the month of September, we rallied dedicated supporters to deepen their commitment to challenging corporate abuse through our September Support Drive. It was a powerful opportunity to make a big impact for the year to come. That’s because a generous donor pledged an additional $10,000 in matching funds that we successfully unlocked because over 100 folks stepped up to join us with a generous gift. We are so grateful for all that you make happen!
You are part of a diverse movement that is challenging corporate abuse around the world every single day. The September Support Drive is a critical way so many of you are helping advance transformative campaigns that are protecting human rights, public health, and the planet.
If you haven’t yet made your gift this month, it’s not too late. Give to the September Support Drive today and together, we can hold corporations accountable for the harms they cause.
Here are just a few of the ways you’ve been challenging corporate power over the past month:

Attending the World Cancer Congress to make Big Tobacco Pay!
|
Corporate Accountability organizers recently attended the World Cancer Congress in Geneva, Switzerland. Why? Because tobacco is one of the leading causes of cancer. And together we’ve built an incredible movement to hold Big Tobacco liable for the harms it has caused, and the astronomical costs we all bear. Learn more about what we did at the World Cancer Congress, and how you can get involved in the campaign to make #BigTobacco pay. Watch this short video from Keltie.

Reflecting on the role of corporate campaigning in these times
|
Corporate campaigning -- that is, organizing to challenge global corporations and the people behind them -- is a powerful and effective way to counter the authoritarian threats we’re facing. In her final “Field Notes For Transformation,” Executive Director Patti Lynn reflects on the critical nature of our campaigning in this moment. And she shares her gratitude for how members like you are helping organize a counterforce to the dangerous anti-democratic forces rising today. Read more.

Corporate Accountability stops transnational corporations from devastating democracy, trampling human rights, and destroying our planet. We are building a world rooted in justice where corporations answer to people, not the other way around -- a world where every person has access to clean water, healthy food, a safe place to live, and the opportunity to reach their full human potential.
