Egale Canada Launches 2024 National Coming Out Day Campaign
With anti-2SLGBTQI hate on the rise in Canada, ensuring that young people feel safe and accepted this National Coming Out Day (October 11) is more important than ever. Egale Canada, with support from RBC, has launched our 2024 National Coming Out Day campaign: Coming Out Together. < [link removed] >
Coming Out Together is about encouraging adults to take the pledge to ‘come out’ as supportive, affirming and safe people in the lives of 2SLGBTQI youth.
For a young person, coming out is often a task that requires an immense amount of bravery, vulnerability, and honesty. This is why adults making the effort to create safer spaces for the 2SLGBTQI young people in their lives is more important than ever.
We call on everyone to do three simple tasks:
→Pledge to ‘Come Out’ as an affirming adult, which means taking concrete actions to foster safer spaces for 2SLGBTQI youth.
→ Attend a free webinar to gain skills for promoting environments where 2SLGBTQI youth can thrive.
→Learn more by accessing free resources on the coming out journey and how to support a 2SLGBTQI young person who just came out to you.

Back in Court: Legal Battle to Protect Gender Diverse Young People in Saskatchewan Continues
On September 23-24, the fight to protect gender diverse young people in Saskatchewan < [link removed] > continued before Saskatchewan’s Court of Appeal.
The legislation passed by the Saskatchewan government continues to cause irreparable harm to gender diverse young people in Saskatchewan. The government has put gender diverse young people in a lose-lose situation: either be forced to come out, or be misgendered and misnamed at school
We call on the government to rescind this harmful and regressive policy. Until it does, we will continue to use every tool at our disposal to fight.

Egale Canada sounds the alarm for provinces with anti-trans policies in light of devastating new evidence
Egale Canada has released a statement < [link removed] > calling on political leaders to abandon anti-trans policies and legislation in light of devastating new evidence. A new peer-reviewed report, published in Nature < [link removed] > , confirms what 2SLGBTQI advocates and allies have been warning: anti-trans legislation in states in the US, such as restrictions on gender-affirming health care and discriminatory school policies, caused up to a 72% increase in suicide attempts among transgender and nonbinary young people aged 13–24.

**Leave a Legacy: Plan your Will with Egale and Willfora
----------------------------------------------------
[Image alt text: A multiracial couple embrace each other, looking towards the viewer with bright smiles.] < [link removed] >
It is officially Spooky Season and we know that creating a Will can be scary! Egale Canada is a proud partner of Willfora < [link removed] > – an online Wills service, where creating a Will and ensuring you leave a lasting impact on the organizations you care about, isn't so spooky.
According to a recent study < [link removed] > , 51% of Canadians do not have a final Will and testament in place, and only 35% of Canadians claim to have a Will that is up to date. That means more than half of Canadians are leaving their assets, estates, and their legacy to chance.
We hope that you’ll make 2SLGBTQI belonging and inclusion a part of your legacy. Over the next few weeks we will be sharing more about this process and about what leaving a charitable gift to Egale could look like. Please check out Willfora < [link removed] > or contact us to learn more.
