This weekly digest is a method to communicate updates, initiatives and policy changes from the Aging and Adult Services Division (AASD) and Disability Services Division (DSD) in a simplified way. We send this announcement every week on Tuesdays.

AASD messages

Asset assessment policy change for married people who apply for AC [ [link removed] ]

* *Audience:* Lead agencies, certified assessors, case managers, financial workers and other interested parties
* *Effective date:* Oct. 1, 2024
* *Summary:* As of Oct. 1, 2024, married people who apply for AC are not required to have an asset assessment completed by a financial worker.





DSD messages

WMS status update [ [link removed] ]

* *Audience:* People who use the WMS, counties, tribal nations and other interested parties
* *Summary:* DHS is performing updates and maintenance on the WMS, so it did not have a monthly download as scheduled.

 

Instructions for EIDBI providers applying for behavior analyst licensure [ [link removed] ]

* *Audience:* EIDBI providers, other behavior analysts and interested parties
* *Effective date:* Jan. 1, 2025
* *Summary:* Effective Jan. 1, 2025, people who provide behavior analysis in Minnesota must meet certain criteria to continue providing services. This requirement includes behavior analysts enrolled as EIDBI providers. Providers should apply as soon as possible because there might be delays in processing.

 

Updated instructions for CDCS budget changes in the MnCHOICES revision [ [link removed] ]

* *Audience:* Lead agency staff, service providers and other interested parties
* *Summary:* DHS is monitoring CDCS budgets in the MnCHOICES revision compared to MnCHOICES 1.0. Lead agencies should follow the updated instructions when there is a change to the CDCS budget for a person on a disability waiver.





Training and event information

Reminder: Training announcement: Culture of Safety online training [ [link removed] ]

* *Audience:* 245D-licensed providers, tribal nations and lead agencies, particularly people directly involved in agency oversight and leadership, incident data and response, quality assurance, adult protection, licensing and risk management compliance
* *Event dates:* Oct. 29, Oct. 30 and Oct. 31, 2024
* *Summary:* DHS will host a Culture of Safety advanced practical training. DHS recommends participants attend all three sessions.

 

Register to attend Minnesota's Self-Direction Connection Conference [ [link removed] ]

* *Audience:* Lead agencies, people who receive services, parents, families, caregivers, case managers, support planners and other interested parties
* *Event date:* Nov. 1, 2024
* *Summary:* Minnesota’s Self-Direction Connection Conference is Friday, Nov. 1, 2024, in Mankato. At this conference, people who receive self-directed services can share their experiences and learn more about self-directed options and programs, including CDCS, the Consumer Support Grant (CSG) and the newly available Community First Services and Supports (CFSS).

 

Webinar on how to talk about technology during the MnCHOICES assessment [ [link removed] ]

* *Audience:* Lead agency assessors, case managers, people who receive services and caregivers
* *Event date:* Nov. 7, 2024
* *Summary:* Join DHS and Minnesota Networking in Education and Assistive Technology (MN-NEAT) for a focused training about integrating assistive technology and remote support into the MnCHOICES assessment process.
