Glasses are nothing short of a miracle. For many of us in the United States, they are such a normal part of life that we don’t think of glasses as essential eye care. Invented in the 13th century, they have long improved our vision so we can lead happier and more productive lives. But in many parts of the world, billions still live with some form of avoidable or treatable vision loss—and don’t have access to glasses or the eye screenings needed to get them.
