“Why actor Jane Fonda is going door-to-door to support local candidates in 2024”

- CBS News, 10/05/2024

John — over the weekend, CBS News aired a special interview with me about the critical work we’re doing here at JanePAC and why I’m dedicating every ounce of my energy to this election cycle.

If you didn’t catch it, I want to share a bit about how the interview went — but first, I have a personal request: Would you be willing to chip in a few dollars today to my organization, the Jane Fonda Climate PAC, so we can maximize support for our endorsed climate candidates before November 5th? Thank you so much. Now, about my interview with CBS…

I’ve spent my life fighting for justice, from protesting wars to marching for women’s rights. But as I told David Schechter, I am spending the rest of my life dedicated to the most important fight I’ve ever faced: the climate crisis.

This election is our last, best chance to make a real difference in the climate fight. With just 29 days left, we need to mobilize like never before to secure wins for climate leaders across the country. I’ve committed myself entirely to this mission — I even told my agent that I won’t be taking any acting jobs this year. That’s how important this is to me.

My team at JanePAC has hand-picked over 130 candidates who are ready to fight back against the fossil fuel industry. We’ve even raised $4 million to support them, but the work doesn’t stop there. It’s about building power from the ground up, so these climate champions can rise through the ranks and transform our country’s policies.

About 70% of Americans are really concerned about the climate crisis, and when asked why they don’t take action, so many of them say, “Well, nobody asked.” I’m asking now. We need to take bold action together.

This is why you might see me knocking on doors across America. It’s not glamorous work, but it’s fulfilling. In fact, I’ve been on the ground canvassing for Vice President Kamala Harris and many of our endorsed candidates in Michigan and California.

Connecting with climate voters fills me with hope. And I’m channeling that hope into action every single day.

If we have the right people in office, we can push back against the fossil fuel industry’s greed and build a future that’s sustainable and just. But I need your help. With 29 days left, every dollar counts, and every action matters.

If you feel as inspired as I do — or if you’re sick and tired of waiting for our leaders to take real action on climate — then I encourage you to chip in today and join us as we approach a historic election for climate action in 29 days. It’d mean the world.
