John, we have some interesting facts and a little history lesson on Illinois’ 14th district for you.

Did you know that before Lauren won this seat in 2018, IL-14 had been a reliable Republican stronghold for over a century? Here’s a quick snapshot:

-The GOP dominated IL-14 for more than a century, winning 67 terms compared to just 11 for Democrats since 1873.
-Republicans consistently won by large margins and set a political agenda focused on corporate tax cuts, opposing abortion rights and same-sex marriage, ignoring climate action, and rejecting increased access to health care through landmark laws like the Affordable Care Act and Lauren’s Health Care Affordability Act.
-The longest-serving Republican in IL-14 held office for 9 consecutive terms, while the longest-serving Democrat held only 3.
-This November, if we reelect Lauren, she’ll make history as the longest-serving Democrat in our district ever in its 151 years.

So you see, reelecting Lauren means making more progress for our working families including continuing to expand access to affordable health care, protecting reproductive freedom, strengthening workers’ and LGBTQ+ rights, and building more economic opportunity in IL-14.

The GOP’s grip on our district has weakened, but their agenda still threatens our progress. That’s why we don’t take any election for granted, especially in a historically Republican-favored district.
