| Hello John, Americans don’t need a tax increase. They are already suffering under crushing inflation and skyrocketing prices for groceries and gas. Unfortunately, if Congress doesn’t act, millions of Americans will face higher taxes, a more complicated tax system, and worse incentives to work and invest. Why? Because the economy is headed straight for the “Fiscal Cliff” — a perfect storm of federal budget impacts leading to a debt limit fight and potentially large tax hikes for millions of Americans. What can we do? Most importantly, Congress can spare the American people a tax increase by making some of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act permanent. Enacted in 2017, some of these tax cuts are scheduled to expire at the end of 2025. If that happens, Americans from single parents to families with children will see large tax increases. What do Americans think? Ninety percent of voters think Congress should extend the tax cuts. You can click here to read about that and other key insights on the state of the economy.
