Hi John, 

On this National Nurses Day, we thank and honor all of our nurses.

We have seen in recent weeks how the Coronavirus pandemic has preyed on the limits of our healthcare system. Despite the lack of PPE and safe staffing ratios, nurses have continued to offer the highest possible care to our struggling communities.

We owe these workers a debt of gratitude and know that the quality of care they offer was a hallmark of their work well before this pandemic ripped through our hospitals.

Nurses must fulfill their professional duties without compensating their dignity or safety. I fully support legislation that provides PPE for healthcare workers, mandates minimum staffing ratios, and limits compulsory overtime.

Previously, I have stood in solidarity with nurses to save Mt. Vernon Hospital, and I assert today, and every day, that our nurses have the right to work in an environment that is safe for themselves and their patients.
