AFGE has been steadfast in our push for immediate action to help protect our members and the public we serve. And, we've won some important victories.

In this week's newsletter we've included important PPE updates and some ways you can celebrate yourself and your fellow public servants this week.

FEMA AND HHS WILL BEGIN DELIVERING PPE TO AGENCIES

FEMA and HHS just announced that they will begin distributing PPE to federal employees at mission-critical agencies including VA medical centers, the Department of Homeland Security, and other facilities across the country.

AFGE activists united to make our demands clear and stand for what was right. We held demonstrations, called our legislators, and spoke to the media. Together, we took our concerns to leadership, members of Congress, and the American people. Our collective voices brought the change we are witnessing this week: meaningful protections to keep federal workers safe.

IT'S PUBLIC SERVICE RECOGNITION WEEK!

Public Service Recognition Week (PSRW)
is a time for us to share our stories and recognize the amazing public servants in our lives. We encourage you to celebrate employees at your work site, thank them for their contribution to public service, and get them organized, energized and mobilized for the work ahead.

Here's some ways you can participate in PSRW:

  • Friday: We're celebrating AFGE Pride Day. Take a selfie in your AFGE blue and gold and post your picture with the hashtag #ProudToBeAFGE. Be sure not to take your photos in any government uniform or on government property.

Join the conversation on Facebook and tell us why you're proud to be a public servant.

NATIONAL NURSES WEEK

Today marks the beginning of National Nurses Week, a week in which we pause to honor and recognize AFGE’s registered nurses, certified nursing assistants, licensed practical nurses, nurse practitioners, nurse anesthetists, and other nurses. Let’s not just recognize our nurses. Let’s resolve to support our nurses in their fight for dignity, fairness, and respect on the job 365 days out of the year – and let’s help them build a better health-care system for all.
