Dear members and supporters,
Today, we mourn the more than 42,000 people killed in Gaza over the past year, a vast, senseless loss in the devastating genocide perpetrated by Israeli occupying forces and enabled by the U.S. As waves of pain, rage, and grief crest in this moment, from Rafah, across Palestine, to Beirut and Damascus, we hold fast to our collective determination for a liberated future free from military and settler occupation.
International solidarity uprisings amid a worldwide outcry marked this historic 12 months, from South Africa bringing Israel before the International Court of Justice to the proliferation of student encampments calling universities to account for and divest from genocide. Millions of people took to the streets and the Uncommitted Movement in the U.S. sparked a grassroots repudiation of an incumbent president, leading to the appointment of a new candidate to top the Democratic ticket.
Today, we sit in the horror of the lives lost from Gaza to Appalachia, and the reality that the U.S. government is arming Israel and spurring on the climate crisis. In the wake of Hurricane Helene, FEMA’s $9 billion shortfall for recovery efforts is a troubling mirror image of the $8.7 billion that the U.S. gave in weapons to Israel.
One year later, we still urgently need to end the genocide of the Palestinian people, stop the looming war, and curb the impacts of climate disaster. Today, hold your loved ones close and honor the memory of those we’ve lost. Together, we will continue the struggle for Palestinian liberation.
Not another nickel! Not another dime! No more money for Israel’s crimes!
