John,

Today marks a tragic anniversary for too many people. For Israelis, it
marks a year since Hamas attacked and killed over 1,000 Israelis and took
over 200 hostage. For Palestinians, it marks a year since the start of the
Israeli government’s genocidal campaign, which has now killed over 41,000
Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank.

Since last year, Justice Democrats and our elected leaders in Congress
have called for a ceasefire and de-escalation of violence to prevent an
all-out regional war. Above all, we want peace, safety, and freedom for
all people and this is not possible if we continue to send more weapons to
Israel and enable an all-out regional war.

The White House and Democratic leadership has failed us - succumbing to
Netanyahu’s racist hatred and AIPAC’s political pressure to support a
genocide despite the overwhelming majority of American people demanding a
ceasefire and an arms embargo with Israel. Voters watch their leaders
prioritize arming and funding Israel, while their livelihoods are put on
the backburner.

From the destruction that Helene has wrought in Appalachia to the
dockworkers who went on the first East Coast port strike in nearly 50
years, working families are under attack from unchecked corporate power,
all while their elected leaders are focused on dividing us and goading the
US into another endless war abroad.

True leadership is having the moral courage to enforce our existing laws
and say no to endless war. It’s standing up to Netanyahu's extremist
government and AIPAC's GOP billionaire-funded lobbying for genocide. The
Biden Administration and Congress must use all available leverage to
broker a permanent ceasefire, release of all hostages on both sides,
prevent a regional war with Iran and Lebanon, and finally, support a free
Palestine.

The will of the people is clear and soon those elected leaders who refuse
to represent their constituents’ interests risk being held accountable at
the ballot box.

In solidarity,

Alexandra Rojas
Executive Director
