Dear John,
Last week I shared with you Part 1 in a three-part video series I made to share my daily life working in camps for people displaced by war in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
I live and work in the North Kivu Province of Eastern DRC, where over 2.8 million people have fled their homes since March 2022 due to ongoing violent conflict. Thousands end up in overcrowded camps, where Ipas’s mobile health clinics serve as lifelines for women and girls, many of whom are survivors of gender-based violence.
Our clinics provide them with contraception, abortion, treatment for sexually transmitted infections and counseling. I help train and support the health providers who make this care possible.
I invite you to watch Part 2 of my video series to get a quick glimpse into what the clinic and surrounding area looks like.
