Friend — Scott here, Tammy Baldwin’s campaign manager.
We made a difficult decision. We decided to increase our advertising budget so we could go up with a new round of ads. The money wasn’t in the budget, but I gave the green light anyway.
Why? Because Eric Hovde and his Republican allies have spent more than $51 million to flood the airwaves with nasty, misleading ads attacking Tammy — and there’s more to come, with Mitch McConnell’s super PAC announcing an eight-figure ad buy in Wisconsin.
Their strategy is working too, with five recent polls showing this race statistically tied.
So after a lot of discussion with Tammy and the rest of the team, we signed off on a new round of ads to fight back against these brutal attacks and set the record straight. Since these new ads weren’t originally in our budget, we had to raise our October fundraising goal to help cover the difference.
We’re taking a big risk, I know. But it’s a gamble we had to make in order to make sure these Republican attacks don’t go unanswered. Anything less, and Hovde would continue to inch ahead in this toss up race.
So today, I’m hoping we can count on you to help us close the gap and reach our target.

Thanks for all you do to support Tammy and our team. We couldn’t do it without you.
