| Folks, Donald Trump has his eyes set on one of America’s founding institutions: The United States Postal Service. His motivations are clear: He wants to remove the possibility of vote-by-mail to better his chances of reelection. He said it himself: If vote-by-mail were integrated into our overall voting system, “you’d never have a Republican elected in this country again.” And that’s why Trump is threatening to withhold the US Postal Service’s funding right now. I don’t believe the livelihoods of US Postal Service workers and Americans’ ability to communicate by mail should be a bargaining chip. There’s no telling how long we will need to exercise caution due to COVID-19, and the safety and rights of our people should be priority one.
