Dear John,

Thank you again for reading my monthly newsletter.

I’ve been working hard to represent the Borders and campaign on your behalf to protect our local area from damaging proposals by the SNP and Labour governments.

A lot of people have contacted me with their fears about the impact that proposed super-pylons could have on areas across the Borders.

The proposed Cross Border Connection project would see between 75km and 85km of overhead lines installed from Newcastleton to a substation near Gala and another around Whitrope.

I understand the concerns and I agree that these pylons could scar our natural landscape.

Please email me directly about this project - and ask your friends and family to do the same - so I can raise your concerns with Scottish Power.

You can reach me and my team at ** [email protected] (mailto:[email protected])

Over 21,000 pensioners in the Borders will miss out because of the decision by Labour and the SNP to cut the winter fuel payment.

It has really bothered people across the Borders who quite rightly wonder why Prime Minister Keir Starmer is happy to accept expensive clothes worth thousands of pounds while he removes a vital payment from pensioners who really need the money it provides to heat their homes this winter.

My party has started a petition calling for the cut to the winter fuel payment to be stopped. If you have been affected by this decision then you can sign the petition at the following website link: ** www.whatlaboursaid.com/winter-fuel-payment ([link removed])
.

Hopefully, if enough people sign this petition, there may be a chance to force the Labour Government to change course and restore the winter fuel payment for Borders pensioners.

I was delighted to see my friend and colleague ** Russell Findlay ([link removed])
elected as the new Scottish Conservative party leader at the end of September.

Russell is not a career politician. He understands the concerns of people in the real world, away from the Holyrood bubble.

He gets that people in the Borders feel disconnected from the decisions made by politicians in the Scottish Parliament, who just don’t understand the issues that affect everyday lives here.

I believe he has the strength to take on the SNP and Labour. I look forward to working alongside him to hold both of those parties to account on behalf of local people.
If I can help you with anything, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
Kind regards,

John Lamont MP
