As you read this, many of our service members are facing long deployments, far from home. They’re working long, exhausting days, missing precious moments with their loved ones, unsure of when they’ll see or speak to them again.

That’s why we’re reaching out: Will you take just one moment to sign our card thanking them for their service? We’re counting on 20,000 caring people via email and text message to send a strong message of support to honor our heroes by midnight, so please, don’t wait.

Your message of support helps service members like retired Marine Corporal Kionte Storey. Kionte was leading a foot patrol in Afghanistan when an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) detonated in his path, severing his right leg. As a result, Kionte had to undergo a below-the-knee amputation to save his life.

Kionte faced a long and difficult road to recovery, including initial treatment at Bethesda Naval Hospital and additional physical therapy and prosthetic care at Balboa Naval Hospital. Through it all, he met every challenge with strength and perseverance. He’s gone on to compete in the Paralympics in track, summit Mount Vinson in Antarctica and complete the Marine Corps Marathon.

His experiences helped him find joy and discover a passion for motivating the people around him to take on their own challenges. Now, Kionte is training to become a physical therapist so he can help others recover from life-changing injuries.

We believe service members like Kionte deserve a permanent place in our hearts and minds. The least we can do as a community is show our support for them. Please, will you sign the card to honor our heroes now?

Today, we’re asking you to join us in recognizing the enduring commitment and resilience of service members like Kionte and our entire military community, who, day in and day out, put themselves in harm's way to serve our country. As they face constant stress, danger and uncertainty, we’re counting on you to help us show that folks back home will always carry them in our thoughts.

Please sign our card now to support heroes like Kionte who make incredible sacrifices to serve our country every day.

Thank you,

—The USO
