Hi, this is Congressmember Judy Chu.
I am writing to inform you about the serious implications of Trump’s Project 2025, which threatens to dismantle vital checks and balances within our government. If implemented, it would allow Trump and MAGA Republicans to seize control of the government and force an extreme agenda upon every American.
This is not just a national issue—it will directly impact individuals and families in California's 28th Congressional District.
I urge you to consider the severe consequences that such drastic changes could bring to our community and the nation as a whole.
PROJECT 2025:
- Removes free emergency contraception for 5.56 million women in California, bans medication abortion, and implements a pregnancy surveillance system.
- Changes tax brackets to benefit the wealthy and hikes taxes by $3,201 for California middle-class families.
- Raises Social Security retirement age and weakens the program for 29.6 million Californians.
- Proposes caps on Medicaid, potentially removing coverage for 47,000 low-income people in our district.
- Pushes seniors into Medicare Advantage, risking benefit cuts for 3.37 million Californians, including 78,000 in the district.
- Repeals drug price reductions, raising costs for 134,000 people in our district, and cuts food aid for 75,000 district residents by restricting SNAP benefits.
- Eliminates the Department of Education, abolishes Title I funding for schools serving low-income families, and cuts Head Start programs for 1,500 children in CA-28, while also ending school lunch programs for 2,700 children in the district.
- Raises student loan payments by $2,700 to $4,100 annually for 597,300 borrowers throughout California.
