Introducing PUBLIC UPDATE

POV Spark, the interactive arm of the award winning PBS series POV, announced today the launch of PUBLIC UPDATE, a public media project dedicated to expanding documentary formats and forms, driven by and curated for nontraditional voices. Volume One features five nontraditional nonfiction projects and will be on view through October  2020.

 POV Leads Peabody Nominations in Doc Category

Today POV on PBS received six nominations for the 79th Annual Peabody Awards, announced by the Peabody Awards Board of Jurors: Roll Red Roll, The Silence of Others, Inventing Tomorrow, América, Midnight Traveler and The Distant Barking of Dogs.

ICYMI: New Season of POV!

On April 29, POV announced its historic 33rd season of America’s longest running documentary series, which premieres on July 20. The series will feature thirteen films tackling social issues, from economic inequity to voter suppression, eighty percent of which are directed by women and two thirds by filmmakers of color.

The William Greaves Fund is a new dedicated fund to resource 5-7 talented mid-career filmmakers per year from racially and ethnically underrepresented communities in the United States, and filmmakers who identify as indigenous and/or of African descent in Mexico, Brasil, Puerto Rico, and Colombia. Deadline: May 14, 2020.
