Dear John:

Today, we mark the one year anniversary of the horrific attack by Hamas on Israel. It was the deadliest attack on Jews since the Holocaust, and started a war between Israel and Iran's proxy terrorist group. We then watched as Hamas leaders hid in sites heavily populated by civilians and cut of aid from getting to the people of Palestine, extending the already heartbreaking casualties of war. We have seen Hezbollah increase its attacks on Israel, forcing them into defending themselves on yet another front. Despite that, Israel has successfully eliminated critical targets in Hamas and Hezbollah, taking out the leader of the latter. Just last week, we watched as Israel intercepted nearly 200 ballistic missiles from Iran. They are still valiantly fighting for their very existence.

While the vast majority of America has stood and continues to stand with Israel, over the last year we have seen a truly hideous and anti-Semitic side of this country, especially on our college campuses. I am disgusted by the leaders of these supposedly prestigious institutions and my heart goes out to the Jewish students who stand with Israel and no longer feel safe on campus.

We in America need to remember that Iran and their proxies in terrorist groups like Hamas and Hezbollah means it when they say they want to wipe Israel off the map and they mean it when they say "Death to America." House Republicans understand the importance of standing with our friends and allies in Israel and continue to condemn the acts of Iran and the terrorist groups they control. I pray for a strong Israel and I pray for peace across the region.

Hurricane Helene Aftermath

Like you, I have been following the heartbreaking aftermath of Hurricane Helene. As we hear after story of homes destroyed, communities completely cut off from assistance, and lives lost, we know there is a long road ahead for the Southeast.

As we continue to pray for those impacted, I am proud to see the way Minnesotans have jumped to the aid of their fellow Americans. From Red Cross volunteers to the deployment of the National Guard to electrical line workers heading down to help restore power, I am not surprised to see this outpouring of help and kindness from people across our great state.

Stearns County Law Enforcement Receiving Federal Funds to Fight Drug Trafficking

As you know, illegal drugs have been pouring into communities across the country. The High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas (HIDTA) Program, which is funded by the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP), coordinates and assists federal, state, local, territorial, and Tribal law enforcement agencies to address regional drug threats and reduce illicit drug production and drug trafficking in the United States.

Stearns County has been approved to receive support from the HIDTA Program. Now, their law enforcement officers will receive federal resources that are key to seizing illicit drugs, preventing and reducing crimes associated with drug trafficking, and improving their ability to dismantle the illegal operations funding the drug industry.

While I am truly disappointed this administration has not secured our borders, which is critical to cutting down the amount of fentanyl and other deadly drugs coming into the country, I was proud to join letters to the White House supporting Stearns County to receive funding for their mission.

Bill to Rename Roseau Post Office Passes Out of Committee

I have introduced legislation to rename the Roseau Post Office in honor of Floyd B. Olson, who was a staple in his community. A true public servant, he was a charter member of the Rose Church Men's Club, looked forward to his Thursday morning coffee crew, was proud of his family, served on the Roseau County Fair Board and the County Historical Board for several years, and worked at the Roseau Post Office for nearly thirty years.

I can think of no better person to dedicate this post office to, and I am glad to say that my proposed bill has now passed out of the House Oversight Committee.

NSSF Dean's List

I am proud to tell you that my voting record has earned me a spot on the NSSF "Dean's List". Shooting and hunting are a way of life in Minnesota, and I am proud to have voted for those priorities 100% of the time while here in Congress. NSSF is the leading advocate for recreational shooting and hunting and I am thankful for their recognition and these kind words:

“The 2024 NSSF Congressional Report Card is a comprehensive analysis of our elected representatives’ positions on firearm and ammunition industry priorities in the 118th Congress. The Report Card’s grades are based on key votes, co-sponsorships, committee activity, floor speeches, and other official actions by Senators and Members of the U.S. House of Representatives. Members of our industry are grateful to have so many strong allies in the Halls of Congress,” said Lawrence G. Keane, NSSF Senior Vice President for Government & Public Affairs and General Counsel.

“NSSF is proud to especially recognize Representative Fischbach as a member of the new NSSF Congressional Dean’s List for her exemplary leadership in supporting the firearm and ammunition industry and the nearly 400,000 hardworking Americans employed in the industry. Making the Dean’s List is special recognition that Rep. Fischbach has gone above and beyond to protect and preserve the Second Amendment rights of her constituents and the industry that makes the exercise of those rights possible. We applaud Rep. Fischbach for her exemplary level of support.”
